MISSION STATEMENT

103. POLICY. Our purpose is to improve the quality of life in the City of Camden by providing responsive, efficient, quality public service that promotes the self-sufficiency, well being and prosperity of citizens, employees, business and our community.

The City philosophy of teamwork and collaboration is the foundation of our shared values. Our values consist of loyalty, professionalism, accountability, compassion, integrity and commitment.

It is our pledge to always work to earn our public’s trust.

I. COMMUNITY SERVICE. We are dedicated to enhancing our citizen’s quality of life through public safety and reducing the fear and the incidence of crime. Citizens of our community are our most important customers. Our way of life is to protect and serve. We will partnership with our community and do our best within the law to affect public safety

II. RESPECT FOR PEOPLE. The excellent people we have employed are our most valuable resource. We best serve the needs of our citizens by our employees fulfilling their responsibilities with knowledge, authority and appropriate discretion. We believe in treating all people with respect and dignity. We show concern and empathy for the victims of crime and treat the violators of the law with fairness and dignity.

III. QUALITY IN SERVICE. We shall strive to achieve quality in all aspects of our work. We shall strive for continuous improvement. Change is a way of life and we dedicate our Department to seeking new and better ways to serve.

IV. REVERENCE FOR THE LAW. Our Officers have been provided the opportunity and privilege to serve this community and enforce the law. We must always exercise integrity when enforcing the law. Our authority comes from the people. Our personal and professional behavior must be a model for all. We will obey and support the letter of the law and the spirit of the law.

V. ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OURSELVES. Accountability is our process to evaluate and improve upon operational efficiency. Our emphasis is on performance and mission. We are proud of our profession and will complete our task in a manner, which merits the respect of people. We will demonstrate honest, ethical behavior in all we do and say. Our actions will match our words.
